Vero Beach, FL Pickleball Courts: Free Outdoor and Indoor Guide

Vero Beach has two dedicated outdoor pickleball parks and three indoor options for the days the heat or rain makes outdoor play miserable. Here is what each actually offers, checked against the city and county's own facility pages on October 30, 2026.

Free outdoor courts: South County Regional Park

South County Regional Park, known locally as Dick Bird Park, has 12 lighted outdoor pickleball courts at 800 20th Ave SW. The park is free and open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, according to Indian River County Parks and Recreation (indianriver.gov), checked October 30, 2026. The county's general parks line is (772) 226-1732. See the full listing.

Pay-to-play: Pickleball University at Pocahontas Park

Pocahontas Park at 2199 14th Ave is home to Pickleball University, with 12 lighted courts. A day pass costs $10 and covers play from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, confirmed on the club's own site, pickleu.com, checked October 30, 2026. A gatekeeper collects the fee and issues a wristband, everyone signs a waiver, and non-member players under 18 need a parent present. See the full listing.

Indoor pickleball in Vero Beach

Three indoor options cover the days outdoor courts are too hot or too wet. The Indian River County IG Center at 1590 9th St SW has six indoor courts for $5 per session, per the county's open-gym fee schedule checked October 30, 2026. Vero Fitness at 1060 6th Ave runs six indoor courts at $6 per session. The Picklr at 5555 20th St has 10 indoor courts on a membership model with drop-in access available. Free bring-your-own-net option: Charles Park

Charles Park at 2401 15th St has two outdoor hard courts with pickleball lines painted over the existing tennis courts, free to use, per the City of Vero Beach's own facility listing (covb.org), checked October 30, 2026. The shared tennis net sits a little taller than a regulation pickleball net, so bring a lower temporary net if score matters. See the full listing.

Riverside Park has tennis, not pickleball

Riverside Park, on the barrier island at 3200 Riverside Park Drive, is a tennis facility. The City of Vero Beach's facility page for the park lists only tennis courts and a tennis shop, and the Vero Beach City Council took up a request to add pickleball courts there and turned it down, according to City Council coverage from Hometown News, checked October 30, 2026. Anyone headed to the island side of town for pickleball should go to Pocahontas Park or South County Regional Park instead; Riverside Park stays reserved for tennis.

Membership and private courts

Grand Harbor Golf and Beach Club at 4985 Club Ter has eight lighted outdoor pickleball courts for members, and has hosted the Grand Harbor Classic tournament in past seasons. Vista Royale's six outdoor courts at 26 Pine Arbor Ln are limited to residents of that community.
