Sarasota County Parks and the City of Sarasota Parks and Recreation Department both run pickleball programs, and each publishes its own official schedule. Reading both line by line on September 29, 2026 turns up a real open play calendar, not just a list of addresses.
Sarasota County outdoor courts: know your net rule before you drive over
The county's pickleball page splits its courts into three net categories: permanent nets already up, portable nets left on site, and bring-your-own-net. Getting this wrong means showing up to an empty court with no way to play.
- Twin Lakes Park, 6700 Clark Road: 4 outdoor courts, free, bring your own net.
- Potter Park, 8587 Potter Park Drive: 6 outdoor courts, free, permanent nets.
- Fruitville Park, 5151 Richardson Road: 4 outdoor courts, free, portable nets on site.
- Siesta Key Public Beach, 948 Beach Road: 6 outdoor courts, free, permanent nets.
- Youth Athletic Complex, 2810 17th Street: 1 court, free, bring your own net.
Sarasota County indoor pickleball: the August-to-May calendar
Three county rec centers add indoor pickleball courts on a fixed weekly slot that runs August through May, first come first served, no registration required.
- Colonial Oaks Park, 5300 Colonial Oaks Boulevard: 2 indoor courts (plus 2 outdoor with portable nets), Monday 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- Longwood Park, 6050 Longwood Run Boulevard: 2 indoor courts (plus 6 outdoor), Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. to noon.
- Newtown Estates Park, 2800 Newtown Boulevard: 4 indoor courts (plus 4 outdoor, bring your own net), Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to noon.
City of Sarasota: Arlington and Robert L. Taylor run pickleball five days a week combined
The two city-run indoor programs split the week between them, and each caps the group by skill level or headcount rather than leaving it a free-for-all.
Arlington Recreation Center, 2650 Waldemere Street, runs indoor pickleball in its gym Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There is no pickleball during spring, summer or winter break kids' camps, so call 941-263-6732 to confirm before you go.
Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 34th Street, offers pickleball five days a week on its two courts, capped at 20 players, first come first served, ages 18 and up:
- Monday and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Intermediate/Advanced.
- Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Beginner.
- Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Open Play, all levels.
That split matters if you are new to the sport. Show up on a Monday expecting a beginner-friendly game at Robert L. Taylor and you will be playing against the intermediate and advanced group instead.
