The City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department publishes one page listing where it runs pickleball open play at its community centers and parks. On September 13, 2026 we read it line by line and checked it against what we had published for each venue. Most of it matched. Three of our listings did not, and one line on the city's own page is plainly wrong.
The rule that matters most: bring your own net
The city page says players must bring their own nets, except at Alief and Jaycee Park. Our listings for Fonde Recreation Center, Moody Community Center and Judson Robinson Jr. Community Center said "Portable provided." That was wrong, and we have corrected all three. If you show up to open play at one of those without a net, you will not be able to play.
The open play schedule, as the city prints it
- Fonde Recreation Center, 8 indoor courts: Tuesday 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Phone 832.395.7422.
- Judson Robinson Jr. Community Center, 2 indoor courts: Wednesday and Friday 9:00 a.m. to noon, and Monday 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Phone 832.395.7626.
- Moody Community Center, 2 indoor courts: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00 a.m. to noon. Phone 832.395.7645.
- West Gray Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, 2 indoor courts: Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to noon.
- Alief Neighborhood Center Park: Tuesday 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Phone 281.564.8130. See the typo below.
- Jaycee Park, 2 dedicated outdoor courts next to the tennis courts: no posted schedule, so it is first come, first served.
The typo
For Alief, the city page prints a Friday session as "6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m." That is a 14-hour overnight session, so one of those times is wrong, and we have not guessed which. We left the Friday session off our page until someone confirms it. The number to call is 281.564.8130.

The city page carries no last-updated date, so treat every time above as "as posted" and call the center if you are driving across town. That is also why each venue page shows the date we last checked it.
